This was one of the books that was presented to me by Amazon when I did a search for books connected with habit change. Unfortunately, the book didn’t leave a lasting impression. By that I mean there is nothing that immediately springs to mind as I write this review – and that’s never a good sign.
I picked up a lot of tips that are going to strengthen my Lean Life habit change programme, so for that I am glad I picked up the book; but as for the content, and its ability to help you successfully change your habits, I’m not sure that it ticks all of the boxes.
For a start there was nothing innovative about either the content or the delivery of it. I love lessons that are delivered to my heart, packaged up in heart-warming stories. The book possesses stories, but they didn’t really connect with me. I’m not sure if it’s the writing style or whether the stories themselves were a little hackneyed?
It’s a book designed to help you successfully change your habits, and it is littered with a lot of practical work and exercises and this is always useful. The greatest piece of advice I actually pulled from the book was to read the Path of Least Resistance by Robert Fritz. When you compare the depth of that book with this one then there really is no comparison. So unfortunately, this review is very short and not so sweet.
If you want to learn to create positive habits in your life then I suggest you start by getting interesting in three things. The first is to buy the Path of Least Resistance by Robert Fritz, the second if to buy The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg and the third is to contact me to enquire about my six week habit change programme I call Lean Life.
As for ‘This Year I Will…’ unfortunately it just doesn’t come up to par, in a world with so many choices of books. I’m afraid this year I will leave this one on the shelf.
